I called Tech support and the guy discussed it with me (JD?).

He didn't know of a kit that was proven to be capable of being modded for our consoles. I told him about the Pro Ratchet situation.

He was patient enough with my discussion of it, but said there was no "wish list" as such, for customers. It didn't appear he knew what to do with the suggestion other than to take a message to the engineers. I wasn't very encouraged.

After letting him know just how desparate we were for a console ratchet shifter. He said, "I understand" and I knew it was time to go.

No kidding! This just doesn't make any sense we are having to Beg them to make a product that we can buy from them. LOL Please Please take our money and give us a shifter. LOL

I spent about 2 weeks looking for a shifter to put in my console when i first bought the car. I went from daily driving a B&M megashifter that i could jam gears with to this dorky *** looking stick that feels like its going to break just going from park to drive. I tried to shift myself at the track and jumped from 1st to D, its very hard to make it click up just one gear with out skipping over.

"If you build it, they will come"

I would deffinatly buy one, so would 2 other of my A4 buddies

I'm using a B&M pro ratchet #80842 in the Hawk. I worked around the factory safty switch that part of that shifter by using the supplied B&M mico switches to control a ford silonoid for that function.
Backup lights on a micro switch also but it need to be more of a direct bolt in as far as this portion of the install. The shifter it self is just fine as is once you remove the pin to allow that 4 forward ranges.
I never liked the shifter boot mod so I just removed the filler between the range indicator and the factory shift handle opening on the Console. Next I just made the opening longer from front to rear so the B&M alum trim set up into the opening. Pics here http://www.hotrodhawk.com/fire_breathing_firehawk.htm

I e-mailed Hurst the link. Maybe now they will look and see that we are serious. Pitty though it took this to get their attention.

B&M currently offers a gate plate (81070) for use with the OEM shifter assembly. This is available through sponsors of LS1Tech. We (B&M) are actively looking into producing a replacement shifter for the 4th gen F-Body. I am not promissing it will be released very soon, but we are exploring some avenues to possibly make a ratchet shifter that fits inside the OE center console. Thanks for your support!

Set it up, please. Where can I get more info on this gate plate? Do you mean it works on the stock shifter? I will probably mod my stock shifter to work with my RMVB TH400 for at lest a little while.

I'm in for sure!!! I'd buy one right freaking now@

However, call me a negitive thinker but there never going to bust out with one for our cars. And if they did it would cost like $400 or some **** like that because it would have the electronic piece on the side for the PCM to know what gear we have selected.

Wait!! They could just build the shifter and make it use the existing electronic selector and just attach it to the new shifter and it wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. That is if they ever decide to build us one.

I've got my fingers crossed either way. Hey you should look up all the varios threads at all the forum sites were people are begging for one and send them a email with like 30+ threads with F-Body owners begging for an aftermarket ratchet shifter to fit factory console!
