tranny went out

It wont shift into 3 or 4 and to get it to go into 2 I have to take it to about the rev limiter and if I give it some a$$ it comes out of gear. Anyone else have this problem. If so what was it. Thanks for any help.

when it shifts into third does it just rev? Thats what mine did and had to get a new one.

sounds like your bands are glazed
whats you fluid color look like? how about the trans fluid level

The 3-4 clutch pack is burnt or has just expired. What you actually feel is normal first, normal second, and then third is first again without engine braking (overrun allowed). Fourth is really second with overrun, but I doubt you'd be able to feel it. It will feel like neutral.

You need a rebuild. There are a lot of choices for the 3-4 clutch pack. The newest option is single-sided clutches from Raybestos called the Z-PAK.

Fluid level was ok. I all ready got another one on the way for $500.

Well I picked up my used tranny amd it all ready has a stall in it. I am hopeing it is built up a little at least a shift kit.

For future reference I would recommend talking to Dana at Pro-Built Automatics. They make great trannys(custom built to your specifications for current/future mods).
