I heard a lot of people attempting that project, but unless you can find someone who wants to swap an A4 to M6 it would probably cause a lot of headaches and put a big dent in your wallet.

Now that I got my M6 I would never go back to an A4, but thats just me. I'll stick to shifting, so why are you thinking about doing this. Quicker ETs I'm guessing or do you sit in traffic alot . Although I plan on running my car I dont find myself sitting in traffic everyday either. Everytime I went to the track with my A4 I was always wishing I couldve been shifting through the gears rather than the computer doing it for me. But if an A4 is what your after good luck with the swap.

Probably more cost effective to keep what you have, and build on that.

Torque multiplication does kick *** though. I could never have an M6.

BIGBOS, if it was me I would probably use one of the yank kits with a 3 speed or that 4L70 tranny and not a 4L60E. That is the last tranny I would want in the car....that thing is gonna break real fast with nitrous

I am a good shifter...my friend just likes busting my *****..

I know my T56 will gets its *** kicked sooner or later...I plan on building the car and I know eventually the tranny won't take it..

I also would like the quick response of a 4400 stall on slicks with a 9 inch..

Those are my thoughts

When switching trannys...a4->m6 or m6->a4......do you use the same underdash harness or do you need to switch them? I am installing a M6 in my 2000 SS, and some of the pins on the underdash harness are different, going into the computer. They are automatic specific........do I not need to worry about it? Thanks!

i have a complete a4, converter, shifter in car console, shift cable, dipstick tube, driveshaft, torque arm,ect coming out of my car in the next day or so. that would mean the only thing you need to get else where is a flexplate and the tranny and torque arm mount.

the tranny is a 98 with 8000 miles on it.
no problems with it at all.
i have got a powerslide im putting in the car.

the converters choice is a 3600 #7 vig, a 2800 #0 vig or a tt2800 yank...

You need the A4 wiring harness as well Chris. I have a complete T56 for sale with all hydraulics, crossmember and Macleod single cheap. It is in perfect shape but I want to get it out of Nicks Shop. (ARE)
Cheers,
Chris

Well, for me the M6 to A4 conversion was the best thing I ever did.

BOS,

I thought you weren't interested in doing this. I'm the guy out in Hoffman Estates who offered to look into the swap with you as my automatic 4L60E transmission has exactly 7,000 miles as I type this. Its in great shape(never been run down a track) and Izzo would do the swap for $350 apeice. There would also be the charge for switching gears and new PCM programming. Someone already talked to Tom about this price, so I'm assuming it is legit. Once again, I'm not saying I would agree do this, but it could be worth looking into for both of us.

BTW, I saw your car at FLP on dyno day last Saturday.(Looked great)
