Default ?4.10 or 3.73? in an a4

bout to get a 9' and was wondering which gear would help me the most. right now i have stock internals but plan on getting heads and cam(not planning on NOS). which would help me the most as far as 1/4 mile performance goes?

Any input would be appreciated,
(th car is an A4)

I have 4.10's with an automatic and I buzz some pretty serious rpm's on the highway.

What are your criteria? Highway RPM? Street traction? All out launch? Mileage?

With heads and a high performance cam, you want 4.10s for best 1/4 mile performance. If it turns out to be too much gear, you can go with slightly bigger tires.

As PSJ noted, highway rpms will be high; figure 3000 rpm at 80 mph.

Thanks guys, the highway RPM really does not matter cause i have a daily driver. I do street race much more than I do at the track, will I be able to hook 4.10's on say a 28x11.5x15 MT ET Street? Don't really want to run ET drags on the street, I have a few friends that do but I would rather not.

Thanks,
Marty

Sure, 28" ET Streets will hook great on the street.

Keep in mind that a good sized converter is a better mod FIRST vs a big gear.

I currently have a pi3200, good point though.

Nitto is supposed to be coming out with a 28" DR also, which will help kill some revs on the street and be a much better street tire (wet traction, wear, etc).
