Install page for a TH350 swap....

1: trans mounts fine with 5 bolts. you will lose the upper most bolt and the two bottom bolts that go into the oil pan.
2: converters bolts up fine to the stock flex plate.
3: make sure you get a shifter that you like, works, and is sent with a shifetr cable as you can modify the stock cable to work but it wont be right.
4: if you dont get a 9 inch tail housing, you will have to have adriveshaft made..47 1/4 inch center to center if my memory serves me right.
5: if you get a trans with a tranny brake, you will need a rear end of course as i dont think the stock one will hold long.
6: the stock torque arm can be used, ive done it so have others, but in a case such as this it makes better sense to just get a good aftermarket heavy duty torque arm so you set the pinion angle easier.
7: the shifter will mount if you dissasemble the stock console and do some "pre assembly" so you can get a general idea where it will need to go. i have had to use 1/16-1/8th inch aluminum plate to mnount the shifter on then mount the plate to the floor on most of my installs. works out fine.
8: you will need to just fork out the $$ for a lokar dip stick for the swap. braided stainless line 30 inches long works.
9: get a shift light for a manual valve body tranny. the last car i did revs so quick you aint got time to look at the tach...ie: it all over the rev limiter before you know it.
i know i am miising some small stuff, but thats the general stuff right?

I was wondering on the 350 swap do you just go buy any th 350 and have it built up or is there a certain one for our cars? I know there has got to be a cheaper one than the 3000+$ yank. Where can i get one? Where did you get yours? Who do you recommend?

a six inch one and a 9 inch one.
i use the six incher and have shafts made to fit the car that will hold a transbrake launch.
no oil will leak and we have had good luck with over 4000 rpm launches so i dont feel the extra bolt missing on top makes much diff.
the stock vss switch can be made to fit the tail shaft, i have done it.
marty, if your really interested, come by and lets talk. i use trans king for there stuff. call and talk to bob, he is a transmission monster. knows his stuff real good.
some have had good luck with jw and other people. t350's and 400's are not hard to build.
when you are said and done, you will have about 2000-2100 in the swap.
then you can sell your stock parts and recoupe some of the money
also, a small amount of plate steel or aluminum will need to be used for the tranny mount. not hard to do once you get it all up there and look.

is this if you don't use an aftermarket crossmember?
also, how do you measure the tailshaft length? and either way you need a custom driveshaft though right?

As soon as I get the money i'll let ya know. Andre ever find a tranny? Hey I might have to get you to install the dynatechs I just bought. Me and brad are gonna give it a shot first but if we can't do it I'll give ya a call. How hard is it?
