Fun Converter
Fun Converter I've been doing a search for the right converter for me and still haven't found it. I'm looking for a fun converter. I want something I can drive around daily with but have fun on the weekends. Something I can got autocrossing and drag racing with. I want it to be able to roll along at low speeds and roast the hell out of the tires just because I feel like it. I also want it to be reliable. I'm not worried about how effecient it is on the top end or try cutting 1.40 60ft's (1.70's would be nice). Is there a converter like that?
Yes there is.....The Vig 2800 or the Vig 3200. Both are made by Precisions Industries and great quality converters.
I have run both of these converters. They are good on the street and good on the track. I was able to roast the tires from 30mph and could cut 1.68 60’ (best of 1.62) all day long. I ran 11s with both converters.

Any one of the more popular 'street/strip' converters should work well. SSF3500, SS3600, Vig3200....
With the SSF3500, ET streets, lid, CAI and headers/duals on my '98 I cut 1.72-1.75 60's. I dyno'd 319/337 through the unlocked stock converter with everything but the conveter (obviously).

Will the TCI hold up pretty good? I read allot of horror stories of fried trannys after a few miles on here. My guess the problem has allot to do with the converter, the tune, driving habits and temp, not just one thing. What do you all think?

Yes, a TCI should hold up just fine. They make a good product, and have good customer service. In fact, they have a very good rep on this board in terms of customer service...especially compared to some of their competitors....

I agree. TCI is also a great choice.

Either the Vig 2800 or Vig 3200 get my vote as great all around street/strip converters...Paired with some 3.73 gears, they'll work great! BTW, the 2800 has a true stall of about 3200 while the 3200 has flashed as high as about 3800... 
Just remember to get a good B&M tranny cooler with whichever stall you choose and don't forget to run some Nitto DR's out back!

another vote for the vig 3200. Mine also flashes to 3800 or so. it's pretty loose but not unstreetable at all and if you hook the tires up, flashing it is MUCH more violent a launch then my old 3400 TCS (which i did mid-high 1.6s on nittos all day).
in this cold weather i've blown the tires clean off as high as 45 mph!
I actually want something that flashes hard. I've owned a 420hp M6 SS and a 469hp/517tq 03 Cobra and what I loved most was the ability to roast the heck out of the tires from a roll. I guess what I'm looking for it a tight converter with a hard flash to it.
