Default Converter help, which one!!!

I have a 02 z28 A4 with 3.42 gears weighing 3600 with a half tank gas and driver. its stock internally but i have all blot on's, I'm not planning on driving it everyday, but incase i do i dont want anything radical. What stall should i go with 3200-3600, I'm leaning toward the 3600. Does anyone know what the stall is rated at on the street and how accurate is it at the track? Sould i spend a little more and go with a Yank or Vig? I think i want to go with a TCI SSF, I plan on putting a F13 cam in it eventualy, rpm power range around 2800-6000... thx in advance

TCI SSF3500 or Yank SS3600 will meet your goals nicely, IMHO. If value is an important consideration, go TCI. If cost is not an issue, Yank.

For that cam, I would absolutely go with the 3600 (or a bit higher) stall. It is not too high for a daily driver and will work just fine with the stock cam until you do the upgrade. As far as the stall rating, make certain that you know what HP your stall is rated at. If the rating is at 300 then it will stall higher because you are making more power. If it is rated at 500, it will stall lower. That is why so many people say, "My 3400 *** really stalls at 3800." As power increases, stall speed with the same converter will rise. I have seen, though it is rare, stalls that flash well over 1000 RPMs higher than they are "rated." A local guy here was confused when his 3600 rated (@400hp) converter was flashing at 5000+. Considering he was spraying a 300 shot on his big block out of the hole, that is not odd at all to me.

i would go with the vig 3200 because it will drive almost stock until you get on it, also as you add a head and cam setup to it, it will move the stall up to 3600-3800 range which would put you right around where you would want to be IMO.

The Yank SS3600 will perform like a 3600 at WOT. It will act like a 2800 on the street since it use a 21 blade stator. I have the SS4000 and could not be happier. The Yank SS Series are ~28lbs dry and are among the lightest TC's available.
