Default Flexplate nicks back of engine at start up????

It's wierd because whenever I start up the car cold, the flexplate nikcs the back of the engine then goes away after its warm. Is there a spacer to put behind the flexplate to move it away from the motor? What can I do?
Ike
BTW, I have a TH-400 and it has done it for a while, just wanting to fix it b/c it is now getting on my nerves.

are you sure it's not the converter bolt heads hitting the rear cover bolts?

I had to grind my bolt heads down a little to clear the rear cover bolts.

I'll have to take a look at that. But why would it only hit when its cold?

Probably just thermal expansion. Take a good look at the converter bolt heads. Paint the heads of the converter bolts with something and start it up. If it's hitting the bolts you'll see where it rubbed the paint off.
I assume you already checked to make sure the converter bolts are tight.

Two thaughts i have are:
(1) Too much crank end play (thrust bearing worn out) this used to be a stick car right?
(2) Flex plate warped (and wobbles more whn.under the extra stress of the fluids having a thicker viscosity whn cold
My .02, let us know
