I would like my trans to shift faster, it kind of lags when it's hot. Will the transgo help with this/ Any downside? Thanks

It will definately help w/ the lag. It'll be very firm and crisp. I know a guy who had one in his 94 GT and it got sideways in third.

It WILL NOT make the shifts faster, only harder. It also adds to the wear and tear on the trans.
Had one in my 96Z and it was ok, but I think it helped a great deal with me having to rebuild it.
Mike at Yank does not recommend them also.
Only shift kit available that makes it shift faster is Yank's and is $350. Stock shift time is .8 seconds, Yank kit shift time is .4 seconds.

I ran a Transgo kit in my 96 Z28 for 40,000 miles before I got rid of the car and I had no problems.
And as far as truly making the shifts faster or not, who cares? Have you ridden in a car with a mild converter like the ST3500 and no shift kit? Oh my goodness... it would be WORTH a tranny rebuild at some point in the far future so as not to suffer the head-bucking that comes with the sloppy *feeling* shifts without it.
Just my .$02

Colonel, I didn't time my shifts before and after or anything but SOTP said it was still a dog until it actually shifted. That was in my 96 Z. Haven't driven an LS1 with T.Go yet.

I think it has alot to do with the install but my TransGo in my 4L60-E made the shifts ALOT quicker (especially considering that it cut out the extra slippage.)

I did (via Autotap -> Transmission -> shift time parameters). Same result as Yank. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" />

I have been very leary about the usefulness of this kit in the past. But my shifts were getting painfully slow, so I tried one.
The kit definately made my shifts faster. Yes, it shifts harder at part throttle on the street, but it also shifts faster at WOT at the track. Got a new best first time out with it in a stiff headwind, no other changes.
Like Colonel said, the installation is supposed to make the difference with these things.

About you saying that the TransGo will make the trans. go out quicker, I don't really agree.
I mean, the shift kit just basically increases the pressure to make the clutches engage faster and harder (am I correct?) now that would make ME think that since the clutches are engaging harder, there is less slippage? Since the clutches aren't slipping as much, they wouldn't wear as quick...
It could be that the increased pressure may cause the tranny to go out, but I've been told that it wouldn't. <img src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
