As with all the other topics on this site, if you really want to know about a part, in this case a 4L, call Carl Rossler and ask him. I have his T400, Th210 and now his 4L and they are basically bullet proof. But they aint cheap.

At the Atlanta LS1 Tech race a certain car from Ohio smoked the high gear clutches on his Rossler TH210, the wind was real bad and he was in and out of the gas at the 1/8 on almost every run, I thought that might have been the reason. Big Rick on the other hand made 3 clean runs w/ 8.24 and 8.21 late in the day when the wind eased up, they are using a Century trans and were also in and out of the throttle at half track on 3 runs. Needless to say I`m glad I run a Century built tranny.

A bunch of semi educated guesses and rumors IMO.
The only people who know what driving style causes what transmission failures are the guys who drive their cars and tear their transmissions down.
Not builders who tear a blown trans down that the customer says was just driven normally, with a near stock engine. Don't want to void the warranty.

For what its worth, when I drive my car, I DRIVE my car and I've been through multiple 4-2 kickdowns, 4-3 kickdowns, and 4-1 kickdowns. Stock tranny lasted 70k+ miles and this TCS Stage 1.5 built 4L60E has lasted 40k with the same abuse and a 3200 stall on top of it. B&M 24 tranny cooler. I dont monitor my tranny temps and my fluid hasn't been changed in those 40k miles. Tranny shifts fine. TQ Management is deleted.
Might just be that I dont have enough power. Definitely nowhere near some of the powe levels discussed in this thread (600+).
