What exactly does a stall do?

Thats pretty much what I was looking for thanks. Also one other quick question. When you guys are at the track, how do you launch? I havent done yet but you cant just stomp it, right? I'd spin to hell if I did that.

Practice and learning to feel the converter is what will give you your best launches. Go to the track and try out as many variations on techniques as you can. Try rolling onto the throttle, stabbing it from idle, stalling it up first and combine them until you find out which works best for your car and nets the best results. That is what I have found to work best for me.

You need really nice radials, preferably drag radials, in order to make use of a converter. I recommend TCI for an affordable converter. Search around, there is a LOT of info already on the board.

We have seen people knock off .6 on otherwise stock cars with stock tires. While to fully utilize the benefits of a stall converter, it is a good idea to get a sticky tire, even on street tires, the difference is big.

A 3200 stall converter can be driven happily at 2k rpm in most vehicles. Think of it like slipping a clutch. It will just be at a higher rpm sooner than a lower stall converter.
