Yank TH350, Yank 3400 converter, B&M Pro Stick, Manual VB, transbrake.
Haven't had any issues with mine. Beat on it pretty good with the turbo making about 600lbft of torque. Rebuilt it a few weeks back since I had it out during my engine rebuild. Some clutch material, but otherwise fine.

Now that my T-56 is junk and its very possible I can't get it done under warranty I will most likely have to pay up to 1500-2000 dollars for a rebuild...if thats the case I'm going to look into a TH-350 or 400....
I got a few questions....with manual valve body does the trans shift for you under normal driving and then as soon as you go WOT you have to shift it?? And what are the best shifters to buy with them...I would think something with a ratchet type deal...and with the shifter how exactly do you shift it manually?? Do you just push it up to upshift??
What else is involved in getting one of these trans considering im a 6-speed...??

I finished swapping the Th400 into my car 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it. Shifts very hard and crisp. My T-56 was ready to be rebuily and I needed a new clutch. So with that looming over my head I chose the TH400 rather than swapping clutches and rebuilding trannies every few months.
Bigbos,
With a manual valve body you have the shift the car ALL of the time. There is no computer control whatsoever. Personally I like this and since you have a 6 speed car already it really would be no different except you wont be using the clutch anymore. I got the b&m hammer shifter for mine. It's a ratchet shifter and I have a reverse pattern valvebody so i pull the shifter down to upshift and push it up to downhift. I'd highly recommend this swap to anyone who is really into racing and sick of blowing trannies and clutches all the time. One thing to mention though is that I personally dont think that the stock 10-bolt would hold up to a TH400. It shifts so hard I think the gears would be done fairly quickly since the TH400 has full line pressure 100% of the time. A 12-bolt or 9" would definately be recommended by me

I just got my TH400 in yesterday, and I LOVE it! <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0"> Yank TH400 with all the goodies.... I'll let you guys know how it holds up. Waiting on my Strange 12 bolt to be done before I can really get on it. These Nitto's just can't hold up to the transbrake... hehehe.

Bigbos,
1450 for the tranny with a transbrake and a 2.75 first gear (the 2.75 first gear was an extra 480 so the tranny would have cost less than 1k if I didn't get that.
Shifter was 200
converter was ~500 for a JW 10"
I bought a 9" and driveshaft from a friend who was getting rid of it for 1850
Automatic flexplate was 80 bucks from GM
Tranny cooler, lines, fittings, and dipstick were 278 from jegs
you'll need a crossmember for it. Talk to brett at BMR he made mine as the prototype. It fits great.
Cant remember what else off the top of my head. Hope this helps

After the front seal on my 4l60e started leaking I just said why bother trying to fix it? The 200$ or so it would have cost to fix the front seal would just put me 200$ further away from a REAL performance transmission. I now have a TH400 /w the Gear Vendors OD unit, Yank UT 4400, 3.06 first gear set and a t-brake.
