Now that I know what that means, I can understand more completely what I'm looking for in a converter.

As of today (wednesday 5/18/05) I have't got my TC in yet. Just went by Thunder Racing today and got a temp gauge and installed it... after really hard driving (>3500 for a few miles) the stock converter stays at ~180. What are stockers supposed to run with no aftermarket cooler?
Anyway John PM'd me on Monday saying the converter was shipping that day and he would get me a tracking #, I havn't got another one yet with any tracking number but I hope it is on its way

This converter is well worth the money. My buddy has a yank converter and didn't pick up this much with it.

That leads me to believe you were likely running street tires when you ran the 13.4 @ 104. I bet if you ran heated 315 Nittos on the stock converter the 60' time would likely be in the 1.9 range and your times would have been more like a 13.0 @ 104/105. That in turn means the converter really was responsible for a .5/.6 gain which is in check with pretty much any decent 3600 2.x torque converter.
It sounds like a good quality torque converter that seems in line with Yank, PI, TCI, ect.
I am in the process of buying a converter but don't know which one to go with. I have read everyone's take on tci, yank, fuddle, etc. but don't know who has the best one or has not had any problems. If someone can help to make my decision a lot easier then i would appreciate it.
Grats on those times. But I feel compelled to play devils advocate here. When I look at the before and after numbers I see that your 60' times went from a 2.1 down to a 1.7 which is incredible. I read in your previous post that your running 315 nittos which when heated up can give great traction. However the 2.1 times you had prior to the torque converter is worse then the 60' times I was pulling on a stock converter and all weather street tires (BFG KDWS). I was pulling consistent 2.0's at Rt. 66 Speedway.

I had the same nitto's before when i ran 13.3's. It was just a dog off the line. I wasn't spin before the converter. It was just slow off the line.

They shipped it like that? I'm surprised the cooler made it.
So far we got like one or two who've used one and everyone else who's bought one or thinking of buying one.
Yea, I'm thinking of buying one also but... I've seen one or two with problems and less than ten in use between two forums, thats not a good ratio to get my order going yet.
Maybe we can start over with a 'who is using a fuddle converter' and get right to the point....

I had my 3500/2.1 installed about 2 weeks ago. So far just from daily driving and a few WOT blasts Im LOVING it. My gas mileage has plummetted but I also put on headers and a F13 cam. With Nitto's on the back Im able to stall it up into the 2000s and floor it and get a damn good launch. Also installed a shiftkit and B&M cooler.

Between LS1Tech and the "other board," we have sold nearly 100 converters. Additionally, before we sold these converters on these boards, we sold converters over the internet, through our web site and on EBay. We also sold the converters locally before this. Additionally, I see diesel truck converters through another business.
I have had ONE converter returned to me so far. We sent him a new converter immediately. When we got his converter back, we opened it up. It was inspected and found to be in great shape with no design flaws. There was nothing wrong. The newer converter has a slightly higher stall, and he is pleased with it.
We have had 2 other converters with possible problems. We sent out new converters to these people as soon as the converters could be built. One converter may have a turbine spline problem. We have not received the converter back yet, so we have not had a chance to inspect it. We have updated the turbine spline design, and it is now practically bulletproof.
The other, we assume the clutch has burned out from a transmission problem. The guy had transmission problems before, and a problem with the converter will not cause it to lock by itself. As we haven't seen the converter yet, we cannot say exactly what caused the problem. We sent him a new converter under warranty because we cover damage caused by outside factors. We stand behind our product no matter what.
The only other problems anyone has ever had are pulse-width modulation and other tuning issues, which happen with any kind of converter, and can be fixed with tuning or a shift kit. To fix these problems, which are not really our problems at all, we have sent free parts and free shift kits to those who have decided not to get tuning because we want our customers to be happy.
Customers get back to us everyday raving about their converters and our customer service. For some reason, the only unsatisfied "customers" seem to be people who don't believe there can be more than one brand of good converter. But we are happy with our product, as are our customers.
