I had a similar problem when I pulled the tranny to install the TC, I forgot to put the clip back into the shifter **** and with out knowing it pulled up on the shifter. When I did that the shifter buttom will not push the release to move the shifter into park. So....start there push the shifter **** down and see if it shifts correctly. If thats not it check your linkage.

Make sure that the **** is all the way down and put in park. You can also try shaking the steering wheel as well.

ya, i'd try that, maybe with somebody in the truck, have the hold the brake and try and shift it, you should see the cable trying to move. Work with that and try and find out where it's binding at. If it's inthe cab, you may not see it move below.

The "T" part of the shifter what your hand sits on. When you removed the shifter handle did you replace the retainer for the handle it looks like a big staple it goes on the front of the shifter ****. I didn't put mine back in after I installed my TC and unknowingly pulled up on the handle, it would shift into all the gears but wouldn't go into park or let me pull the key out of the ignition. I pushed down on the handle and it went into park and I could remove the key. Calm down push, wiggle, and twist the handle until it seats put the retainer clip in and call it a day.
If thats not the case pull the center console and look to see if anything is the way of the shifter cable or the shifter itself.
