Tires with new converter
So... which tires?
I have 16" rims. I don't want to go bigger, what with the 2.73 rear end -- plus I paid extra for the polished aluminum. The stock tires are 245/50/ZR16. I found some Nittos on the Nitto web page -- P245/50/R16 96V. Would those do the trick? If not, what?
Best regards,

they would even hold the 3600 in your setup... they hold fine on my 3.23's and 3600 stall... 1.62-1.64's al day long easing off the line..
plus you will get alot of wear outta them... just run 18-21psi in them at the track and do a 5-6 sec roast of tires
I'd figure on them lasting 10,000 miles +/- 2000 miles without trips to the track. If you live in a wet climate, you'll want to retire them on the early side, in a dry climate you can wear them down to nothing. With track use (and a good heating) expect to drop 2000 - 4000 miles off the above estimate. Bob2of3 wore out a set in less than 2000 miles with heavy track use; others have claimed as much as 15,000 miles.
BTW, now that it is cold here, they don't hook worth a ****. Above 50*, they are excellent.
get nittos!!!!!!! trust me.. they will hold anything you throw at them.. esp a vig2800 with 2.73's

Anywhere from 22-25 PSI on the street. DO NOT go over that or the centers of these tires will wear out fast! And make sure you get the DR's and not the regular radials.
P.S. You should have no problem getting 10,000+ miles out of them if you do not go to the track and they also handle very well in the rain.

Okay, all I hear is Nittos, Nittos, Nittos. How do they do on the twisties?

Nittos make great auto-x tires and handle great in the twisties. The Nitto drag radials are also the best rain tire that I have ever owned...when they have good tread.

This is absolutely correct. My friend Pete ran them at 28psi cold (about 30 hot) on the street this summer and wore the center out completely in just under 6000 miles. I keep mine at 23 cold (25 hot) and I’m getting normal wear.
I have had Nitto DR's in 17's, 16's and 15's.
They are very very good in the rain. I would say they were 90% as good as F1's.

What pressure do you run them at for auto-x / road racing?
