Default What Stall for me?

Hello, well i have a 99 Trans Am. Mods so far are borla exhaust, underdrive pullys, and ram air. Im looking at a stall next. I want this car to be very driveable on the road consider 90% of its driving will be there. However i do want the power gain. I may go to the strip a few times. This will mainly be a street queen so i want driveability but still the being able to rev up a lot for launch and improve my shifts for way better 60 ft times at the track. What one for me? I was told i should get the Pro Yank 3600 Extreme a while ago. What do you think? Thanks. Also i odnt want to have to be working on the trans at all really so a good low maintenance is nice. Thanks

the 3600 is a great converter and has good reviews, I would shoot for that.

lol

the 4000 definitely wont' feel 'stock'
i have a 3600, and it's definitely way more 'loose' ... you need to give it mroe gas to get it moving.
for example, revs up to ~2100 rpm from a stoplight, to start moving (and if you actually want to accelerate by more than 1mph a minute, the rpms will be ~3000ish)

but you do get used to it, and it's very well worth it

I don't have a Yank SS4000 in my car yet, but that's what I plan to buy to replace my Vig 3200. My Vig drives like a stocker, and most people that I've talked to say the SS4000 takes about 10 minutes of driving to get used to before you forget that it even has a stall in it. Of course when you stomp it you'll get a big reminder.

You can find more by searching for SS4000.

Hey. Ok so you think the ss4000 will be fine for me to drive everyday? How much will it effect my gass mileage and what about the 3800 extreme? Will that be a big help? thanks

I went with the SS 4000 because its the same price as the 3600 and 3800. When I'm doing city driving I take off easy and the convertor will lock up at 40 mph and then I can ease down on it and it'll stay locked up. It will pick up speed pretty good. Save some gas that way. But when you kick it, it'll put you back in the seat. My car pulls 10x better now that I've put the stall in. I think its streetable with no question. Just my .02

The SS 4000 is only 400 more rpm than the 3600. And the same price! I wouldn't go any smaller. You'll love it man!

I plan on using the SS4000 or 4000E in my car to replace the Vig 3200 and I commute 300+ miles/week. As far as the installation, here are some good links for you to check out:

4000 is the stall speed, actually that's what it flashes to. When you step on it, it flashes to 4000 and starts pulling from there. You have to pull the trans out to put it in. You have to pull the stock TQ from the input shaft and slide this one back on. You don't have to go internally.

Man, I'd definitely find somebody with a hi-stall TC in his car and drive it around a bit before I jumped into a 4000 stall. Call me a wimp, but I have a TCI 3000 and it is plenty around town. I can see a TCI 3500 or Yank SS3600. It's not as if your getting more "value" because you're getting higher stall for the same price. You want something that will work for you - which sounds like it's 99% street.

Do whatever man, but if you get a 3,000, that'll leave you wanting more. I don't see how a 3000 is more streetable than a 4000 except more maybe a little worse gas mileage in town driving. I'd be pissed off if I had of only got a 3000. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
