What is the deal?
I got a 2002 Camaro SS with a 3200 stall speed converter. Anyway I was told that when I do my burnouts I should put the car in first then do the burnout, I have allways done the burnout in 3rd,but someone said this is no good for the car. So I did the burnout in 1st then took it up to the light, put it in 3rd ,and took off. Now ever time I do this my car hits the rev limiter in 2nd 2 weeks in a row at the track it has done this forcing me to do the burnout in 3rd, I got the car program on LS1 edit. It is set to shift at 6350,and the rev limiter is set at 6700 RPM. What is the deal here? Doe's anybody have an answer to what is going on here? I sure could use someones advice.

i had the same problem friday night, first run ever in this car i forgot to put it into first so i did my burnout in D and the car went a 12.5 shifting fine, next run i put it in 1st do the burnout and it hit the rev. in 2nd had to get out of it and back on it for it to shift. some info would be great, and i tried searching but didnt really find much that i thought hit the subject on the head.

I do not have an answer, but I have experienced something similiar. I always do my burnout in 1st then manually go to 2nd during the burnout. Then I put it in D to race. I've never hit the rev limiter with a healthy tranny. A friend of mine told me I should NOT be racing in D that I should be in 3rd. So, I gave it a shot but did my burnout the same way. I hit the rev limiter on both shifts. Keep in mine, my car shifts at 6500 and my rev limiter is set to 7200. So, it was really zinging. Needless to say, I do not race in 3rd anymore. Good luck though figuring it out.

Well, if it's hitting the RL on all WOT 2-3 shifts, and you're having to back off to get into third, I would say you've fried your 3/4 clutches...if it is doing it whether racing in 3rd or OD.

Do your burn outs in first. That way you do not have a high rpm shift at part throttle line pressures.
FWIW, my car was much more consistent in shifting if I raced in OD (4th). When racing in D, my 2-3 shift would sometimes bounce off the limiter. This happens to other people; primarily when gear changes are on the mods list.
