Mk... 4l80E Q's... search couldn provide info
Ok I am currentlty running a FLP built 4l60E(Level 4). I am pretty sure its not gunna hold the power I am gunna be making(525-575rwhp). I don't care to loose my overdrive so a th400 is almost out of the picture.
So I can get my hands on a broken 4l80... its got a broken band, bad pressure control valve and a cracked seal. But I can get it for a 100 bucks. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to use it as a core or to have it built to hold? I haven't got to talk to the guys @ FLP yet but I was considering having Chuck go through it. So hear are my questions.
What all does it take to put a 4l80e in a car? x-member? what all mounting stuff?
Aren't there aftermarket computer controls for the trans?
How much power could one thats built to the hilt hold?
How well do they actually fit inside the cars?
What is the first gear ratio?
Are there any fast cars running them(i know a lot of trucks are)?
How much does it cost to build a 4l80?
TIA!!!

$100 is a great price but I've seen high line pressures break bands, drums, seals, and even the case. So you might end up being out $100. It has a high line pressure problem.
But even non guaranteed rebuildable cores go for more.
I paid $200 for a used tail housing, forward clutch housing and reverse servo.
You can make more money parting one of those out than selling it whole.

Well I don't think you can go wrong getting this trans for 100.00 as long as you know someone to rebuild it. You will need a controller or make it manual valve body unless you ecm will control it.
I am not so sure your 4l60 will not hold 500-600 if it is a level 4......
