Which cam for a 3000 stall?
Thanks.

That said, a 3000 stall is loose enough to allow an 800 - 850 rpm idle without fighting the car at a stop. The issue is not just duration, but overlap and valve timing. A 222/222 110 +0 would make some serious power and probably have more punch at 3000 rpm than typical off the shelf grinds.
On the street with an A4, you'll rarely see 3000 rpms at WOT (can only do that on a sticky launch) and chances are on a daily driver you'll be traction limited in 1st gear (at least with 3.23s or higher) so power at 3000 rpm probably is not very relevant. Point being is that you can run a fairly big cam since you will almost never be below 4000 rpm at WOT. The biggest consideration is drivability. Since you went with a 3000 stall (fairly mild) you'll probably want a mild cam with nice manners. A 220/220 on a 114 LSA will probably be a nice match. mild lope at 800 rpm or stealth idle at 850. for a little more punch put it a 112 LSA.

my car takes off like a raped ape with a 3000 stall and a 224 cam.
while a 3500 stall would be better for that cam, a 3000 is just fine.

What was said is that technically a 3000 stall is too small for the stock cam. But he then went on and into much greater depth than that.
224 and 3000 stall sounds like a pretty good matchup for a street car that will pull much better than stock with good drivability and nice, mild manners.
