Default transgo shiftkit

I'm confused about the 4l60e trans. HPP3 say it can firm up your trans with their hand held programmer, transgo has a shift kit to firm up your shifts, and MTI told me the trans has to be reprogrammed thru the cars computer. Whats the deal can any body shed some light on this subject, the differences etc.

Transgo is a good way to firm up the shifts. HPP3 is not. Trango changes springs, etc. Hpp3 increases line pressure only. Not good.

Go with the shift kit.

So if you go with a transgo kit you just install the kit and you're done. You don't have to have your pcm reprogrammed?

No reprogramming required.

In some cases (mainly '01s and '02s) the TQ management is aggrevated by a shift kit. In these cases removal of the TQ management is necessary for best results. But, as I said, this is almost exclusive to the '01 and '02 models.

As far as the HPP3 goes for WOT shift improvement, don't bother. It raises the part throttle line pressure which does nothing to firm the WOT shifts since at WOT the line pressure is at %100 anyway. Also, it's not good for the tranny to be running at high line pressure all of the time.
