I'm fixing to put a new converter in my 4L60E trans. Is there a break in period for the converter or anything like that. I really dont know a lot about converters. Thanks

I would let it lock/unock a few times before doing any spirited driving with it. Basically, just don't gun it when leaving the place that just installed it for you.

I'd give it a few miles, then go for it.

I gave mine 5 miles. Then I beat the hell out of it for the rest of the 40 mile drive home

Not to be a killjoy, but a word of caution is due here.

When my ST3500 was installed, it took 2 days of checking and 1.75 quarts of trans oil to get the 4L60E filled properly.

When the ST came out and the Vig3200 went it, it took 1.5 days and 2.5 (YIKES!!!) quarts of oil to get the trans filled. I got into the throttle a little when driving home after this install and felt the trans revving too high and it just "felt" wrong. Then I got home and checked the oil level - the trans dipstick was DRY! Good thing I shut it down RIGHT NOW when I felt something was "not right".

I'd hate to think what would have happened if I had hammered on my car after either converter was installed...

Burn baby, burn...

If it's done right, you should be about 3 quarts low after the install. Before driving, you should get it nice and hot running it through the gears in place and adding as necessary until full. I never had to add another ounce after that, but its a good idea to check it after a few miles to make sure everything is good before beating on it.
