TCI SFI Flexplate TC Bolt Holes Too Large!?

I too have fallen to the TCI flexplate. It's going back to Speed Inc this Friday, assuming they get the new flexplates in on thur as scheduled, to have it replaced and the powdercoating on the new one ground down. (no charge) They claim it's the powdercoating wearing down that allows the bolts to get loose.
I also had the TCC on my SSF3500 take a dive. (i think that's what it was...) I'm going to seriously second guess buying another TCI product now.
I know this is a somewhat old thread, but I just searched for this and found it's somewhat documented

thanks for the heads-up... was looking at replacing the stock flexplate for fear of cracking and was going to get the tci. guess i cant caus the convererter i will be using wont have 7/16" bolts..

I too have had this problem on a customers car. I torqued the bolts properly, and used loctite. now I've ground off all the paint where the crank contacts the flexplate, and where the bolt heads contact the flexplate. I also had to retighten the three little allen screws that holds the thick steel ring to the flexplate. crossing my fingers it wont come loose again. when I first got the flexplate, I wondered about this happening, but thought if a company like TCI uses it, it must be ok. apperantly they dont do much R&D or they would have found this problem too. what gives kevin?
and, to make it worse, I just installed another one of these on an LT1 car so I guess I'll be contacting that customer also so I can go through all the F'n work again cause of TCI. Im dissapointed to say the least.

Sorry about the problem the you've had. I haven't ignored the customer feedback from you guys. Several months ago (just after this thread started) we stopped powdercoating our flexplates and began a process called E-coating. If you have any doubt about the flexplates that you have, feel free to ship them back to me and I'll get you an E-coated version.

Stock doesn't. The stock flex plate has one oval 10mm hole and two 11mm holes. They don't need to fit tight. The converter pilot on the converter goes into the crank and centers everything.
If your bolts are put in tight and stay tight it will never be a problem.

I have a TCI SFI flexplate that was used both on a 4l60 and now in use with my TH400 swap. I've had no problems wiht bolts coming loose. Its been in the car for almost 2 and a half years now. Im happy with it.

I am not sure if Jegs makes a flexplate for the LS1's, but I do know that the Jegs flexplate that I bought for my LT1 worked out great. It is SFI approved, no powder-coating and fit like a glove. I also only paid about $60. Here is a link that might help somebody out...
