Since converting to automatic, I now have the correct reluctor and electronic speedo sensor. Now I am just wondering if it will be plug and play with my six speed harness.

You'll need to change the pigtails. The pig tail for the a4 WILL NOT lug in to the t-56 and vice versa.

No, it won't. You will have to find a 6 strand harness that is in the back (as ususal, hard to reach) for it to work. The old manual harness is longer with more pin holes to plug in correctly. If its a 97' you might luck out but I doubt it, the harness is still going to need to be wrapped up somewhere since it is longer than the ones for the A's.

Hit up the parts wanted section if you aren't sure where to find one, sometimes there is someone who did the reverse and trying to get rid of the tranny harness for cheap.

As long as the signals are the same. Can I just change the pigtail as suggested by MEAN LT1 rather than swap the harness?

You can swap the pigtail and it will work the signals are the same. You will have to do harness length mods but that is expected.

i did the swap and i have the auto pigtail around here somewhere. the 6 speed pigtail ran me like 27 bucks from a parts store, so they aren't cheap. i'll go look for it in a second and see if it's around.

OK, great. I just haven't had time to run out there and look at it. I plan on tackling it all tomorrow.
