What's the general opinion on this setup on a stock tranny?

Is there a good guide that explains exactly what this kit will do? As I read it, it allows me to manually choose my gear and any rpm, basically a manual tranny with no clutch?

How difficult is it to install?

any info is appreciated, I found there website sorta confusing

 

Also, is it safe to install on a tranny with 100k miles on it?

I've heard that these will sometimes fail when you drain the tranny fluid and fill it back up

This topic has been beat to death, much like the how should I drive my automatic car posts.
Do a search, you'll find all you need. Most people get tired of typing the same exact stuff over and over. might be why you got no response.

 

funny thing is I couldn't find that much out by using the search button. Yes it seems to be asked a lot, but often there is only the repsonse use the search button.

Not saying don't use the search, but when it returns some 20+pages of results and after reading the first 20 or so posts you begin to loss interest in searching.

well you are going to get 2 kinds of people. 1. trans go or 2 do programming. I did both. The general rule is it is a good mod espically when installing a converter. If you install the shift kit you will need programming to remove torque management.
Some say to just program the pcm and there is no need to get a shift kit. i beg to differ as i had programming first than installe the shift kit.

 

i got this kit.. the tranny shifts agressivly.. 1st to 2nd will give you a nice KICK while middle or low throttle.. on WOT you wont even notice the shifts, just the engine going down on revs..

i think is worth it.. but i had my tranny rebuilt from 0...

 

i did the full race shift kit with the tranny in the car. the install would go nicely if the f'n instructions made any reference to an F-BODY. the video sucks. the paper instructions are your friend. and yes, torque management needs to be removed as i have lost ~1.5 mph in the 1/4 because of it. 1-2 is HARSH, 2-3 is HARD, got me sideways at the track with drag radials even (2-3). i recommend the kit and installation yourself. i have a 4k stall sitting here to be installed when i return from my cruise. then it's off to tune everything BUT the engine.

yes. D and OD work like normal with the exception of shifting harder. you can hold 1, 2, and 3 to any rpm and shift at will. at wot if you manually shift from 1st to 2nd at say 3,500 rpm, the car will shift - as opposed to waiting until 6k. now for the "without any damage" staetment:

i think damage will occur regardless of whether or not the tranny is stock.
