Question on slipping TCI
Hi guys,
My TCI 3800 is slipping about 300 rpms on the dyno, my tuner said it should be fine on the street. Its approx 2 years old. My question is can TCI tighten it up to hold the extra power (if so how much and how fast is the turnaround) or should I go with a multidisc setup like a Vigilante?
My tuner said I'm easily losing 30-40 hp now. My car doesn't make big power 485 to the wheels with the slipping converter but I don't want this thing to take a dump on me.
I've read about these Fuddles and they look good on paper but I'm skeptical to try a new product that isn't proven.
opinions are welcome!

Well, I think 300RPM slip against 485HP is not at all
unreasonable. If this is at 6000RPM then you are
something like 95% efficient and losing maybe 25HP
(close enough to Mr. Tuner's estimate, or vice versa).
95% efficient in a 3800RPM, 2.7STR is about par I
think.
Generally it seems you have to go lower in STR to
get the efficiency up. If you're dead-hooking now
then you'd lose out in the short times. If you are
fighting wheelspin always, then it's probably going
to help you some, cutting back on the STR (less
down low also means it multiplies further up into
the RPM).
Slipping it locked against this kind of HP has got to
hurt. Slipping unlocked, is totally normal and just
"warms" up the juice.

ok. Thing is I plan to add much more hp down the road soon, so I'm just being a little cautious. The car has a 2.7 str and usually hooks hard, i love how hard it pulls in the 1/8.
I am cautious cause this makes it harder to tune and I dont want to lean out after putting a lot of money into my new motor.
