Just Installed YTP4000....Can Someone Help w/ Problem?
Just installed my YTP4000. Absolutely love the performance. I am running stock 3.23 gearing. Well I decided to test out the performance today. I ran a couple friends. Converter worked awesome till 80mph. At 80...regardless or from a stop or a 40punch the rpm would just sit and bounce of the rev limiter till I shut down. It wouldnt shift into the next gear. Has anyone else had this problem. Is there anyway to fix it besides raising the rev limiter (since I spent all my $ on this converter). Looks like all my races are going to have to be shut down at 80 till I can get this problem resolved <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0"> thanks for the help.
Car is a 00. Stock limiter, stock shift points. I race in OD. I did check the fluid level. But cant hurt to check again.
Thanks
Thanks
The 4000 converter lets the motor rev faster then the trans can react, the only way to fix the problem other then raise the limiter is lower the shift points ,either way you will need an hpp3 or someone to tune for you.
I have the same problem with my 4400. Only after I did programming. 6800 shift points 7K rev limit. I guess Ed Wright hasn't figured this out yet? I gave him all of the pertinent information. LS1 edit sounds like the way to go.
It should not be a shift point issue. An occasional tag of the limitere might be, but if its laying in it something else should be wrong.

I ran a TP-4400 on my car with a completely stock setup... no limiter problems.. check that fluid... somethings not right.
Are you running a ported MAF?
I had problems with my ST-3800 and a slight problem with my PT-4400 because of my stupid MAF ends. In my ST-3800 the car would just tag the limiter really bad and sometimes not even shift into 3rd which is around 80mph. On my PT=4400 I had horribly laggy shifts and occasionally it would not go into gear but rarely. I replaced my ported MAF ends for an SLP 85mm and the thing shifts like a champ.
I would try a stock MAF for a day or so and see if that helps any. That damn vacume problem with our cars is annoying.

Thanks for the response. But I am running stock MAF. Yeah it just wont go into third. The shifts are not very strong at all. Almost feels like the trans is slipping. <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0"> Also I did notice some trans fluid on the garage floor when i pulled out this mourning. Very little but enough to consern me. Might have to take it to dealer to see if there is a leak <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0"> Anyone notice small amount of trans fluid on the ground right after a tc install?
Thanks again for all the help and input.

They might have spilled a little oil and its dripping. Wipe up the spot and put some paper under the car. Let it run for a few minutes and see if a drip develops. Probably nothing, but doesn't hurt to check it out.
Well the fluid level looked good to me. So I was planning on taking it to dealer and let them recheck it....cause im not so good at checkin the levels. Anyway I decided to test it before I gave it to them. Made two quick runs and both hit third fine. Didnt bounce of rev limiter. <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0"> Didnt touch the trans fluid. Im wondering if there is a learning curve for the computer to learn the new high stall converter? Anyone know this? Keep in mind this is only two days after it was LAYING on the limiter and not getting into third. I'll try it again tomm and then on Fri to make sure its working fine. Just confused me....but hey....its a good surprise right <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">
