If you broke a 10 bolt with an A4
On my stock 10 bolt I've installed a set of 4.10's that ate up the 1st pinion bearing on there first time at the track. I just changed the fluid on my 3.42 setup the other day and noticed i had a slight chip in the ring gear (about 1/8" by 1/4"). I was running 12.0's on the 4.10's, and my car has been as quick as 11.59 on the 3.42's.
first time i've heard of this many 10's going out in A4's.. i've seen cars doing 10's all the time back to back with factory 10's.. dam.. the luck i guess.. i might re consider the convertor lol

Bobby, it depends largely on track condition and suspension. Wheel hop kills rears with A4 cars just as it does with M6 cars. That's what got mine. I hooked HARD out of the gate but then about 20-30 FT out, the tires started to wheelhop pretty badly. That rapid on, off, on, off pounding from the wheel hop did it...NOT the initial launch. The track and suspension just wasn't quite good enough at that point to keep 'em planted.
BTW, that was with an Auburn differential and stock 3.42 gears (it came out of an M6 car.)

If you use soft tires. You should have little problem.
If you use radials.... man, that is a death sentence for the rear.
I havent used radials at the track since I got my FIRST converter. I have never run this car at the track with radials & an aftermarket converter.
Wheel hop will KILL an A4 rear end.
If you stay away from the whole radial thing.... your rear end "should" live a long healthy life.
