I crack mine last yr. It was still under warrenty, so they replaced it for me for free. And they were cool enough to call me and tell me if I wanted in aftermarket stall, to get it and bring it over and they would put it in for free.

I like my feet. If you ever seen a failure come through the floor you'd by an SFI in heartbeat.

Still going strong with the '99 piece. Definitely will upgrade if the car ever starts seeing some serious power though.

I got the SFI TCI one just because. And besides you will already be in there doing the work.

Of the 5 inner legs holding the center together , I had 3 cracked. I'm glad I caught it when I freshed up the tranny and converter. The TCI flexplate is good insurance and now is the best time to do it IMHO. Saftey comes first ALWAYS!

Good luck!

Hell yeah I cracked two, it took a year for the first one with the stock converter. Replaced the stock flexplate with another stock flexplate but put in a TCI 3000 stall, it too 30 days to break that one, then got the TCI SFI flexplate. DO it, do it now! Bacardi coke do it do it.

How can you tell if your flexplate is going? Any shifting irregularities?

Some people get a ticking sound prior to it exploding, but I think that's about the only warning.....if you are able to hear it. Like I said, I just got lucky.

One of the other members here had one come apart on himon the top end of the track and it cracked the bell housing, destroyed the starter and damaged the converter somehow. It was a costly lesson, but luckily he didn't get hurt.

When it is cracked - do you get any vibration at higher speeds?

I haven't changed anything in my drivetrain lately, have checked all the 'obvious' culprits like wheel balance, DS balance, U-Joints, pinion angle, rear end, etc.

But I'm still getting a vibration from about 70-80mph and higher? So i'm thinking it's either the verter (which was fine prior to this), or the flywheel. And I can't hear any ticking sounds with the GMMG!

Yes, Yes, Yes! I did get a vibration up in the range, however it was more rpm related rather than speed.

Late 2000 - 2002 f-bodies have a lighter flexplate. If you have the stock one keep an eye on it.

My car split on at ~7000 miles. I replaced it with a 98-99 style one.

Any aftermarket part for an LS1 is going to be double, triple (or more) than what any SBC part costs.
Sucks, but we get screwed because of supply & demand.

Maybe after a few more years, prices will finally come down to reasonable. We can hope so.

Out of the (3) I would say at least one of our sponsors should carry (or be able to order) the Meziere or ATI.

The Reactor may not be available thru a sponsor. I contacted each seperate company when I was doing a search for flexplate options.

I have an 01 Z28, and when I had my Y3000 installed, I upgraded to the TCI SF29 flexplate, you need to remove 3 of the bolts from the flexplate anyway to change the converter, so as long as your in there, remove the remaining bolts and swap out the flexplate.
