Default Vigilante 2600

Does anyone here use this convertor. I know it's not a direct comparison since my car is an LT1, but I have an opportunity to pick up a used Vig 2600 and since my plan was to get a Vig 2800 I figure this is pretty close and I'll save a bundle by getting it used as opposed to new. What kinds of gains did you see in the 1/4 with this convertor? My car is a daily driver so I wanted something with very good street manners, so this one or the 2800 were the ones I was leaning towards anyways. Thoughts?

I think there's a time limit on when you can do it, within the first year or two from original purchase.

It's probably not worth it to restall it anyways, even if I could, since my car is OBDI and a lot of guys have problems with anything higher than a Vig 2800 anyways. I'd have to get a custom program, or convert to OBD2 in order to run a higher stall in my car. Besides, like I said, with my car being a daily driver, street manners are pretty important anyways. If I can get 4 tenths from this convertor I'll be happy, as that should hopefully put me in the mid to low 13s on a cool day with sticky tires, even with a totally stock engine (for now)

Hi Patman -- I have the 2600 Vig.It gave me 4.5 tenths initially & 5 tenths after I mastered the launch. That was on Nitto's.It 60 fts consistantly in the low 1.7's. People that have driven my car have told me they don't even know there's a converter in it,that includes the dealer!! It's VERY mild. That being said,it's coming out for a restall to either 2800 or 3200.

That's exactly what I want to hear! I'm glad to hear that combo works well with the Nittos too. Did your gas mileage change a lot? How come I don't hear of too many others using this convertor? I know that with Vigilante they underrate their convertors as well, since the 2800's actual stall in a stock LS1 is around 3200 (plus or minus depending on power level obviously) So that would put this 2600 at around 3000 on an LS1, and maybe around 2800 or so on my LT1? Does this sound right?

Patman - The 2600 with my 3.73's will on most nights overpower the Nittos at the track.1st gear from a dead stop on the street requires some pedaling,& even from a 15-20MPH roll it spins em pretty good.Gas mileage I can't say ,since I can't seem to get thru a tankfull of gas without some WOT runs I would think that it didn't hurt too much since this thing is not loose by anybody's standard, even mine & thats saying alot.
As for actual stall speed, yes Vig underrates thier converters but I don't think this one is underrated. It's tough to tell exactly w/o a tranny brake but my guess is that it stalls around 2600-2800.Vig says that there is usually 400 RPM's between their different pumps. So if the 2800 stalls at 3100 -3200,then my "2600" should stall at 2700- 2800.
Don't forget, the LT1 has a bit more low end torque so it may stall higher not lower.
I think this converter isn't enough for most people on these boards (& that now includes me),so that's why you don't see it mentioned much.
Great to hear from you again, good luck with your choice

It turns out the converter is not a Vig 2600 that the guy is selling, it's a TCI 2600. But I still might end up going with this converter anyways, I'll just have to wait a lot longer now. By the time I buy a $700 US converter and have it shipped to Canada it ends up costing me $1200 Canadian, plus $300 or so to install. So it's a HUGE chunk of change.

Thanks for the offer, but the biggest part of the deal that makes it hard for me is the exchange rate being so poor. Hopefully later in the year it won't be so bad, and hopefully at the same time someone will have a sale on them too. $700 US is still a bit steep in my opinion, I wish they were closer to around $500 US.

Bobby - The 3200 is said to stall at about 3600.With traction,it should help your 60 ft time, and help from a slow roll also.
