Default 400+rwhp/stock tranny?

Hey guys have a few questions. I am dropping an 03 Z06 motor with cam and other bolt ons in my car. It should push over 400rwhp, I figure now is the time to do the tranny work with the motor and everything pulled out. I want to put atleast a 3500 stall in my car. WIll my tranny hold with lets say a shift kit and cooler?

It's hard to say. It should last.....for awhile. Some people run 10's for a rather long time on the stock tranny while others lose it with nothing but bolt ons. I lost mine with bolt ons, one year after a 3500 stall/shift kit/cooler install and about four months after a cam swap.

How many miles are on it now? How has it been treated thus far? Heat KILLS auto transmissions. How has it been maintained?

Yea, blkZ28spt is right. Some last some don't and a lot of it depends on how it's been treated. I'm pushing 400rwhp currently and have the stock 4L60E with a cooler. I'm planning on some modding this winter and might have to go with a TH400 which is what I really want but just gonna have to see how the stocker does for a while.

Just don't count on it lasting. Mine took a crap 6 months after my stall/cooler and 3 hours after my cam.

With a built motor and stock transmission, torque management can be your friend. Keep all the abuse modes disabled but with the use of tq mgmt even in moderation can greatly improve trans life, especially on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts.

The tranny has 61k on it right now with only 2 track runs, and some occasional ripping on it through town, but i really dont rip all over it that much (yet). The previous owner was about a 40yr old gal who i dont think gave it too much abuse so i think i will see how long it holds up, thanks a lot for the help!!!

From what I've been told by a few prof builders is that smaller diameter (higher stall) Torque Converters help trans longevity along with a properly installed shift kit.
