Two very noob questions ok, I may soon be the owner of an A4 60k 1998 Trans Am. I'd like to know what times I should expect in the 1/4 bone stock. I've heard about powerbraking (I'm guessing thats raising the rpms while holding the brakes down before a launch.) What can I expect without powerbraking at with powerbraking at certain rpms? It's a t-top so I guess that gives me an advantage.
And also, what are torque converters good for, and what are they bad for? and what should I have in mind when deciding if I should get one?

driving ability for isnt much of a big deal with an A4, its not like he has to shift. stomp the gas and see what happens. lol
Plus he is in Florida, if he hits 14's then he just got ripped off. He will be pretty damn close to sea level so i say wiht good traction he will be mid to low 13's being his first time with the car.

Congrats on the new ride. I could be wrong, but I'm not a big fan of powerbraking. In my opinion you should find a clear stretch of road. Dosn't need to be real long as you just need to practice launching. Then experement getting on the throttle. I wouldn't mash it, cause while its fun to burn rubber it won't teach you how to get out of the hole. Stab it down to half throttle and feel/listen for wheelspin. If none try it again at maybe 3/4's. You get the idea. You want to launch your car with as much pedal as you can w/o spinning the tires. Maybe some of the more experienced guys here can give advice on tire pressure, power braking, etc.
