Default SS3800 Results

So far with the nittos and the SS3800, I've managed to take a full second of my old time of 13.2. I believe that I can still squeeze more ET out of the car. Here is the thread

I'm hoping for 11.9s or 11.8s this fall. You post has made me a little more confident since I have a few things over you. My best so far has been a 12.2.

If you get a decent sized converter you should be able to take off more than .5-.6 tenths. I took off a full second with the nittos and stall.

Damn!! I hope I have similar results. I did run it once on street tires and could only manage a 12.99 @106.76 with a 1.87 60'. I was finally getting a feel for how to launch, but the track was closing for the day

Well, I basically have full bolt ons minus an LS6 or LSX intake. My car is also lowered on Hotchkis springs, but I have all the corresponding mods needed for it all to work except a torque arm. As for weight reduction, I have no back seat and run skinnies up front. I'll fill you guys in when I go to the track after ordering my MT drag radials.

That's a real nice gain!

"If you get a decent sized converter you should be able to take off more than .5-.6 tenths. I took off a full second with the nittos and stall."

I think you were able to cut that much off because you don't have all that much power and the 2.73s. Hooking makes all the difference. Once you mod more and start making more power and possibly change gears, the problem is finding traction. It will be much harder for someone with around 400rwhp to loose a full second off et with just a converter. I was only able to cut 1.6s with my SS4000, 3.73s and 399rwhp, thats why I just upgraded to hoosiers and a 12 bolt. 1.3s should be possible. If you plan to add power, get ready to start adding susspension and big sticky tires or you won't see the gains. Same goes for someone who already has the power, don't plan to loose a second off your et unless you can get it to dead hook.

Yeah new superman teaser, the movie comes out next summer.

I won't change my gears and I make sure to be able to hook first than to add power first. Makes no sense to spend alot of money on power if it just gets wasted to the ground.

Sometimes it takes more to hook up than you think. I have full susspension including a bmr extreme TA and QA1 shocks all the way around. I wanted to stick with drag radials because I like to drive on the street but they just couldn't handle it. I guess it's a good thing because it means my car hits real hard, just needed more tire. Next time out it's wheelie time.

That's true but I don't hit the tires completely out of the hole. I just stall it up and let go of the brakes. If she spins, I'll just stall it less until she hooks and feather the throttle from there. I always try to see what the breaking point for the tire is and work around it. So if I don't spin on the street from a certain mph, I'll work around that at the track.

Yeah, thats the way to do it. You have great times for your mods because it's a good combo. I was posting for the people that expect to drop a second off their et with a converter. That's a great gain no matter what converter, but it's not as easy as drop in the converter, loose a second, you have to get it to hook to get the full potential. 1.6 isn't bad for my setup but I think it's got a lot better in it.

2.73 gear cars respond very well to a converter. I'm amazed how many newbie's will swap the the 2.73s for 3.73s and gain .4 and lose the good highway MPG of 2.73s when a good 3200+ stall will net .6 or more. They also make good stoplight racing gears because they are easy to launch on street tires.

2.73s and nittos will hold a fair amount of power and as a factory rear holds up pretty well.

A nice set of headers and maybe a pulley or ported TB will get you to the 11s.

Yeah headers and a built transmission will get me there easily. The car didn't spin when I launched at 4000rpm, but the trans couldn't hold it. Headers are next on my list.
