Your friend is just ignorant.
He has never experienced driving a stalled LS1.
I have a Fuddle 3500 and I have no problems at all

yep your friend is a dumb ***. I also hear the same things when i was growing up about a torque converter, of course as i got older and read more i found out that my dad and his hot rodding buddies had no idea what a torqe converter does/how it works but they all seemed to have their own ideas about them.. First check out yank's site and fuddles site for a description of how they work. Then read every post on ls1 tech about converters before you can get an idea of what stall you need, then when you think you figured out what you need make a post about our decision and also email yank, fuddle, tci with your ideas of what you want and your future plans with the car.. DONT FORGET TO MENTION WHAT YOU PLAN ON DOING TO THE CAR IN THE FUTURE so you dont have to buy a second converter down the road to match your other components..
