Help me settle an argument about stall drivability
I told my friend that I might get a stall convertor for my car and he said that stalls are for track-only cars and that if I tried to drive a stalled car on the street that I would spinout everytime i accelerated. I told him: not if I take off slowly to which he replied: you are going to sit there until it reaches 3800 and then you will peelout.
I dont know much about stall convertors but I'm pretty sure that they are streetable correct?

Umm.. unless you've lost control of your right foot, you shouldn't have any trouble.
Infact, a higher stall can sometimes make the car more drivable in loose conditions, i.e. snow. Because the tires don't try to spin when you put the car in drive.

Consider that the stock converter stalls approx. to 1600. Show him that your car moves below 1600 now. That should pretty much take care of it.
Also, I agree, under adverse conditions such as snow, stall converters actually can make drivability easier.

your friend is retarded.
My 3200 moves at 1600 rpms.unless you put your foot on the brake everytime you take off and then let off when you hit 3200. then youll be spinning. I wish i had gotten at least a 3600 now that ive got this one.

Clearly, he knows nothing about torque converters.

dont be afraid of a 3500 stall on your ls1 it drives pretty normal till yah get on it.. i drove my tci 3500 on the snow and over icy bridges and i had no problems .. i think it might have been actually easier since the convertor is slipping down low a bit
