Default Drivetrain BANG

Ever since last week when I flashed the converter on spray, on hard (80% throttle and above) 1-2 shifts, I get a loud BANG. It also does it on hard launches, only when I hook. It does not do it if I floor it from a roll. It started on my last run of last Friday night when I felt a big bang on the initial launch (1.61 60').

I don't think the tranny mount is busted since it would probably do it if I floored it from a roll. Would loose rear torque arm bolts cause this?

Ya beter get under it and check all ya stuff good! 9of 10 its usually a tranny mount haven't seen many tqr arm bushings go bad! A good ole energy mout will take car of that but if its doing it on hard launches it something to do with something like a tranny mount or something toward the front because it has alot of stress on those Tourqe arms and tranny mounts! On launches and super hard accel! Good luck in finding it it shouldn't be to hard to find but the tranny mount whould be my personal first guess!

I went under the car and got quite a few turns on the top and bottom torque arm bolts. Gonna take it for a spin in a few.

Took it out and did the same ****. Came back and pulled the tranny mount and it looked perfect.....now what?? It feels like it's coming from right under the console...

It still sounds like a tranny mount to me, mine also looked perfect when I pulled it but what happened was one of the bolts had stripped and wasn't grabbing. The noise I heard also came from under the console when starting hard from a stop. I could still get on it from a roll with no problems. I replaced it with a poly mount from JEGs and the problem was gone. Cost was cheap and install was easy so even if that isn't the issue it still is a good thing to do.

How is the ride with the new poly mount?

I just did poly motor mounts with my header install, and the transmission/converter are next in line to upgrade. While it is out is it worth it to do a poly motor mount?

The poly mount sends some vibration but its worth it not having to work about a weak stocker!I like mine!

I took it out originally because it vibrates like a bitch on the highway (about 2500 RPMs and above). I guess I'll just keep it in this time so I don't have to worry about it breaking.

I've heard nothing but good things about poly motor mounts...I think I'm gonna install them when I do heads/cam.

I got the Poly motor mounts installed to get rid of my Y pipe hitting the floor board, and it definately took care of it,
then got true duals, and I have no complaints about the mounts,
but now with the exhaust, the console will vibrate, and it's worse when it's cold out,
good thing I'm in Fl,

pat
