4l80E help with converter bolts
I got a 4l80e and a yank converter,tci flexplate with the arp flexplate bolts now i want to get ARP bolts for the converter also but need to knwo what size pitch thread can anyone help?

My 4L80E is out but unfortunately I am out of town... I will be able to tell you in a couple weeks!
However, I remember those bolts are pretty meaty.... and there's 6 of them unlike some over converters... do you really think you're at any risk?? That's a lot of metal to go through!!

Are you running an internal or external balance motor?
If it is internal the Summit P/N is: ARP-200-2902, $10.88
If it is external the Summit P/N is: ARP-200-2906, $10.95
These are both Pro Series ARP Flexplate bolt kits, 6 each.
I am using the 2902 pack on my 4L80E with an internally balanced engine. They are stout parts, and need a 12-point, 3/4" socket.

I believe it is the flexplate-to-torque converter bolts that are metric, and you must use Metric Grade 10.9 because there are only 3 bolts holding the converter. I remember that Summit/ARP did not carry them and I had to go to a special metric store (Mr. Metric) here in San Jose, CA. They're like $1.25 each, and dark gray.

The ones I used on my vig converter were metric 11mm by 1.25 pitch. I used grade 8 bolts and have had no problems. We used the same grade 8 bolts on my buddies car with over 600 rwhp also with no problems. I tried to find higher grade bolts, but came up with nothing after a week of driving around down in la. Can you send me a link to the metric store if they have a website to order from.

You are talking about which?:
- The SIX bolts that attach the flexplate to the rear of the crankshaft? These are Standard thread.
- The THREE bolts that go to the Torque Converter? These are Metric thread and must be Metric rated 10.9 or higher.
I am sure you have it right but want to make sure I understand it.

Now I am confused... I'm almost positive I have 6 bolts holding my 2003 4L80E converter to the flexplate.
Do you only have 3 on your 4L80E? What model year is it out of?

He is not using an lsx motor from the picture I see. The flexplate uses 6 11mm bolts that can be bought from arp if you are using a tci flexplate. The converter to flex plate uses 3 11mm bolts. My vig converter also has 3 standard threaded holes, but since I used the metric ones I don't know the size on the standard holes.
