Default Upgrading to PT4400 from Vig 3200!

The Vig 3200 has served me well. It's been an AWESOME converter, and it's still a great street/strip converter...the best one that P.I. makes IMO. However, it's time to get a little more serious with the SS, so I'm going to try out a Yank Pro Thruster 4400. With my 3.73:1 gears, it should be pretty streetable. I can't wait to try it out at the track! I think the converter will add an honest 2+ MPH and reduce my 1/4-mile ET by .15-.2 (if not more). I would've had my 11 long ago had I went with this converter first. However, my original goal was for a street/strip setup that I would consider pretty tame. I know that there are a few others with the Vig 3200 that are looking to upgrade, so this will be some good information for all of you. I hope to gain right around .1 in the 60' times, but I guess I'll have to wait and see. If everything works out, I will have the converter in the weekend of March 30th. It will be the first weekend in April before I make it to a 1/4-mile track, so stay tuned!

In the words of Tim (the toolman) Taylor... (repative, guttural, testosterone laden grunts).

You'll like it. I just got back from a week in Pittsburgh. With all the rain last weekend I couldn't test mine (PT4000) after Matt and I installed it.

This thing is very HOT! Driving home from the airport an hour ago, we were pegging the fun meter. Can't wait to get to Centerville on April 6.

I'll definitely keep everyone updated. You can bet that I'll be out the night after the install hunting for someone to play with.

Loco - I should be okay since I have Ed's custom tuning. I'll find out soon enough.

Yeah, tell us how it works out. I plan to do the exact same thing later this year. When I get 3.73's I'll decide if the Vig still suits me (I love it), but I can hear the PT4400 calling me

The PT4400 will be my last attempt at an 11-second timeslip w/ stock cubes! It's already too warm to accomplish with the Vig 3200. FWIW, the PT4400 has been calling my name since last November.

Yep you'll love it. I hope you have good tire! My 26X10.5X15 ET streets spin all day with the 4.10's. But I'm still spinning my way to high 1.5X's and mostly low 1.6X's. When I upgrade to a full slick, I expect to see 1.4X's.

You'll make 11's. Congrats!

Yeah, I'm already running Hoosier slicks, and the Hal struts help immensely with weight transfer. The car is ready for the converter.
Joel - It's your converter that I'm getting! Thanks for upgrading.

11's have not been a problem for me with the 3200. I dont know if I just got lucky, or what. It may be the weight reduction, but I cut an average of 1.52, with a best of 1.50. If you already have Et streets, then it's gotta be the track you're at. Anyway, if you cut .2 off your time, then I'm gettin one & getting that bolt on record.. Not really (ARE heads on the way).. Good luck.

Sal - The converter has already been spoken for.

BlackSunshine - The weight difference definitely helps, and Texas Motorplex isn't the "best of the best" when it comes to ET's. Maybe they sent you a #8 pump.

You are right, track conditions account for alot. I go to a pretty good track. My race weight was around 3280 to 3300 lbs.

No doubt the 3200 is a good converter.. but I LOVE the TP-4400. It will be even more awesome with 3.73's!

PI is building me a 4500 stall with a 2.7 STR. I want to see how it compares to the #7 (3600).

Trevor, by the end of the summer when you upgrade again I want your TP4400 to try.

Changing TC's is easier and cheaper than changing cams. It's fun to try new ones.
