PLEASE HELP! installing 12 bolt, need "gears" on 10 bolt axle ends?
I am installing my moser 12 bolt.
I just removed the c clips and axle on my 10 bolt, BUT I noticed that the abs sensor seems to ride on the metal "gear" on pressed on the end of the 10 bolt axle.
do I need to remove these stock "gears" on my stock axles and install them on my 12 bolt?
Do these make the abs work?
there is a small pin sticking inside from the abs plug that seems to ride against the gear.
I DO have traction control, hopefully this is the right set-up???

im not sure about ur traction control issues as i dont have it. you dont want to use your stock axles or gears tho. i dont really understand what your asking on the pin from the sensor. my abs sesnor was on top of the housing so maybe someone else can help ya out there.
as far as the last picture goes those are seals and YES you need those they are not the shims gm is talking about. once you get the axle bearing pressed on you put those seals in the axle tube and then slide the axles in.
email me if you got more questions

With Traction Control, you've got a 4-channel ABS setup. That means you've got sensors at all 4 wheels (that's the "gears" you're seeing. It's the reluctor wheel for the ABS sensor). A non-traction car has a 3-channel system. (1 sensor for the rear that is on top the pumpkin)
To keep your traction control (and ABS) you need to have your axles setup for the 4 channel system. When I ordered my rear, I ordered my axle's with the 4-channel setup. That's what you'll need to do. (Don't know for sure but I'm pretty positive you can't use your stock reluctors off your old axles.

Its like a $100 option for the 4 channel abs setup and you have to specify that your car has 4 channel, and not 3 channel abs.

I did order the 4 channel but didn't get these "gears" for the abs
I GOT IT THOUGH! I cut the axles about 4" long and put a gear puller under it, they pulled off, used a mallet to tap them on the moser axles! yipeeee!!!
going now to have the bearings pressed on!
thanks!

Yeah too late as always but yes, this issue lost me at first, but just to give you some peace of mind putting this all back together, you did the right thing. I took my 12 bolt in to get inspected (the gear setup) which lucky I did becuase everything in there was all wrong including pinion depth and a lot of different measurements (don't remember, exactly all the stuff) but I also had those reluctor rings pulled from the old axles and placed on the new ones.
Remember to install your backing places BEFORE the bearings!!! Unless you got C-Clips in which case, I have no idea... mine came without C-Clips, I assumed it would have C-Clips but I took what I got.

Also, those shims below in the picture are axle seals. They go inside the axle tube before you install the axles.
I don't know what kind (manufacturer) that moser gives us, but mine (red in color, probably same as what you have) were leaking pretty steadily within 2 months of the installation which resulted in a timely replacement of the seals. Make sure you put the seals in clean and do not bang them up at all!!!
Better yet, I'd go down to the diffy shop and buy some better quality seals, it's $10 now for good seals or $100 later if you don't feel like pulling it all apart again (which I didn't) and you pay for seals and labor.
