Default Why swap to an M6?

I have been hit up by a friend of mine that has a M6 that wants to swap to an A4. He wants my tranny because it's built. I've always wanted to have an M6 but I was wondering what if any draw backs would there be. One for me would be that I still have a 10 bolt but I would have to change that out anyways even if I stayed an A4. He has Spec Stage III carbon clutch with Fidanza aluminum flywheel and has had the normal M6 mods. I like my A4 for track use but my car goes to the track about 10-12 time a year and I think the M6 would be fun on the street. If anyone could give me some pros and cons I would appreciate it.

He got the M6 like I said. He's basically done modding his car and wanted to enjoy it more. So he felt that shiftin thru the gears would be a good way to do it. Aside form already burning thru a clutch, he loves it.

If you decide against it, let him know I'll do it. It basically depends on what you have planned for the car. If you want a strip car stay with the A4. The M6 is desired for those who just like to row through the gears as well as those who like to do a little road racing like I'd like to do. You definitely can't match it's consistency at the strip that's for sure. So it's up to you. The swap is a little involved especially for the person going from A4 to M6, but overall it shouldn't be too bad for a weekend swap. But let me know what you guys decide. I am very serious about looking for someone to do the swap while my car has low miles on it and is bascially stock. I'd be willing to put up a little money in the deal to make it worth while to him or anyone who has a similar setup. Let me know. Thanks.

Burn'em, why would he be slower w/ the T56? Over all from my experiance M6 guys w/ the same mods as mine are running a couple more mph in the 1/4 and the 1/8. Please enlighten me.

You're right but an A4 gets it done quicker, lower ETs and with a lower MPH. What Burn'em is saying is most M6s have higher(slower) ETs and higher MPH. An M6 can how ever run some great time with a good driver, they do it around here all the time.

BTW I could give rat's *** what a school kid would say!

Because autos kinda sand bag on a dyno hiding power in the converter, while a m6 puts it all straight down with little loss. However the stall converter simulates higher torque, therefore coming off the line harder than the m6.lower 60's soild shifts (no driver error)the auto will alway trap lower ets than the manual.

When ever I first bought my car my friend got his except m6 at the track I had 118 miles more than him. Same car he ran 8.69@86mph i ran 8.47@84
Now his car dynoed53 more than mine to the wheels I beat him by 3 tenths same mph.
Autos are for drag racing, sticks are for road racing.

You're correct with just the addition of my stall I picked up .5 in the 1/8th from an 8.5 to an 8.0. After the H/C install I have more DD issues and I've done lots of tuning and I still have issues. I don't get to enjoy the car anymore like I used to so thats one of the reasons why I was considering the M6 swap.
