thanks for the link but it does not give a reason why. I have a Tech II so I know the code.

You need to send your file to ken if you have HPtuners. He will send it back. He does something we can't.

I am running a 4.10 gear. 1st gear is so long you will need it.

how much heavier is the 4l80 e over the 4l60 e? Does it have to be built or can it handle 800 hp stock?

I ask this cause me and someone else are thinking about this in the future. I may send my tranny over to rock on just like you did, i just dont want to pay 2200 bucks, i think that's too much $$

2200.00 is about right and if you really want a tougher 4 speed auto, its the same as buying a real turbo kit and not wasting your money on a turbonator, brotha!!

I was just in the same boat where i didnt't feel that i had to drop over 2k on a trans when i can get a th400 for under/at 1k to handle just as much power. But a gear vendor is cool but kind bulky the way it feels; so my only choice was a 4l80e since the 4l60e is by far, the biggest piece of crap, transmission i have ever had the pleasure to deal with!!! No WOT into 4th, goes under stock power, good gear ratio's but even with a fully built trans, it'll go with me handcranking the motor over!!

(Sigh!)

It is about 80lbs. heavier than a 4L60E.

It needs to be built to handle 800HP. I have the Hughes Street/Strip 80E and love it. They said in a CHP article that it would handle 1000HP without any problem. I'm pumping 740HP through it now with no issues.

This looks like a great thread.

What wiring harness's would I need to get to go from M6 -> 4L80-E? I'm guessing the stock one plus the additonal one. Part numbers please if you gott'm

Would I be okay with the M6 console? I've seen pics with the M6 console and a TH400 shifter, but I don't think they had a Trans Brake and I do plan on having one. What would be a good shifter to get if I was to keep the M6 console and have a transbrake? Pics??

Do you guys have the gears changed in the 4L80-E? The 4L60-E has a much more agressive first gear.

Stock 4L60-E
1: 3.06
2: 1.63
3: 1.00
4: 2.29 (edit: 0.696)

Stock 4L80-E
1: 2.48
2: 1.48
3: 1.00
4: .075

i have my m6 cross member, wondering if that is a direct fit (like on turbo 400's)

also since mine is m6 i will have to do all of the cooler line plumbing. what should i do for this? buy somebodys 4l60 lines?

thanks

I cant be 100% certain on the crossmember. Ive heard that it would then Ive also heard that it wouldnt. The easiest thing to do would be get the cross member from yank. Im still running the stock TA so I got the cross member that had the TQ mount on the crossmeber not the trans..

Speedengineering-----> Has stainless braided lines that would run form the trans to the cooler for $99 I believe it was..

There are a couple different companies that sell the crossmembers now... I know Yank does. I had mine maid by Tyson (Performance Autofabrication) and it turned out real nice.

I use stock 4L60 lines that have been tweaked a little (bent out a little to work). I have seen people get braided lines and that is nice too. Its really up to you.

Good question. I made my own custom fitting for the return line. This cutom fitting allowed to enough clearance so I didn't have to BFH that side of the tunnel. The dude from...eh one of the sponors showed me how to make them. I'll see if I can find the thread, hold on.

And BTW, I used black Goodyear tranny hose for the cooler.
