Whats this transgo 4L80E part?
Whats this transgo 4L80E part? It's a gold plate with a pintle valve, spring, and e-clip on it. It bolts to two valve body bolts. front (iirc) drivers side. has a yellow spring on it. The valve goes into the vb and covers a hole.

So it does the same thing as the Sonnax pressure regulating boost valve? I have the Sonnax in my trans that I'm using and I've seen it push 500 psi+ before I rebuilt it and put the sonnax valve in it, I rebuilt it because it had no reverse, it broke the reverse servo piston, this was right at 60,0xx miles.
Which one do you think is better?
Do you know what other parts might come with this transgo part in a kit? It also has a spring around the center support bolt and a wierd looking collapsed spring inside the boost valve which doesn't look like it does anything. Thats all I found so far.

Both are designed to modify the oe designs. Both of which will work together. I've done it with no problems. As far as the spring on the boost valve it's being used as a bumper spring for the PR valve. You will have to get pics of the spring on the center support bolt. I'm really confused there. 
That spring on the boost valve isn't a bumper spring. I've never seen a boost valve like this one either. It's not a spool valve, it's more like a piston with a compressed spring inside it. Doesn't look like it would do anything which might explain why the trans was in the core pile.
The spring on the center support bolt head looks like maybe it's there to prevent the gasket from collapsing over the hole in the bolt. I don't know.

As far as the boost valve goes the ones I've always seen are like the pic on the left and the bumper spring goes over the nose of it.
The pic on the right is whats in this trans, just never seen one like this before.

Verdad Gallardo Ok I see what you were saying. With the location of that spring behind the boost valve, I believe their trying to increase line pressure. I've never seen that setup in any of the kits I've installed. Thanks for the pics....
I just found this picture saved on my computer, no idea where I got it from, it shows both valves that I pictured above. Anyone know if this is a TransGo boost valve?
