Default Fuddle Rocks

I just put in a Fuddle 3400 with a 2.2 str and OH MY GOD does this thing rock. It completely changed the car. This should have been my first mod. The car has no added noises, vibrations or anything else. John is #1 with customer service and his product is top notch. The car sounds alot better also, like a manual. i would have paid much more for this converter. Also, it doesnt have the lock up shudder that other verters have. I have fallen in love with car all over again. Thanks Fuddle....

You put it in. You have to drop the transmission. It is like a clutch for an auto, connects the engine flexplate to the transmission shaft.

I love my Fuddle 4000!

Unless you have all the right tools, i would just have a tranny shop put it in. Also dont forget the tranny cooler. Give John at Fuddle a call, he will point you in the right direction.

just get a higher str to compensate for the 2.73s, it will be real loose in town but once you lock up at about 35 it will have the same great gas mileage you get now, plus it will be a beast at the track

I just answered this basically in a PM:

The stock torque converter does not "down shift" (actually with the stock stall rating it is inbetween gears) well in the 40 mph range, and thus there are various "dead spots" that the car will not accelerate well until it gets into the powerband. With a TC the higher stall rate means the rpms go higher when you stab the throttle, EG in the case of your choice the TC will flash stall to ~4000 rpm when you go WOT instead of the stock TC, which IIRC is around 1800 rpm. Thus you will be deeper in the power band and pull harder.

With the Fuddle converters they flash stall to the rated stall with a car that is putting down around 400 rwhp (IIRC), with less it will stall a little earlier (conversely if you are putting down more than 400 it will act like a little larger stall).

Our car has a 3400/2.2str Fuddle in it, and ours flash stalls around ~3400 rpm.

Therefore your car will accelerate a lot quicker with the TC because it will be in a more user friendly (powerband) rpm range. That will alleviate the "dead spots" (35-40, 65-70, 75+)

Oh..Well I'm swapping from a t56, so it's always in the powerband if I need it to be.

Should still be fun with the stall..
