street only
If you race on the street, a converter is awesome. I would get the SS3600 (what I have). Your around-town gas milage wont be as good but highway stays the same.
Get a BIG tranny cooler, and a transgo shiftkit (in my opinion). Keep enough money saved back for a new transmission when it breaks. (even if you dont get a converter).
So even though I'm not a TC owner, based on your situation I'd say a tame 3000~ stall is just what you're looking for.

when i had my stock converter i would DEAD HOOK on the street and at the strip. i was cutting 2.0x 60s at any given time.
you will be HARD PRESSED to cut another 1.9x 60' with a 3200 stall and radials. if you'd like to try, you're going to need a lot more suspension...adj. torque arm, sub-frames, adj. shocks, etc...
you can have that stall put in and try it for yourself, but personal experience AND reading experiences of others tells me that high(er) stall converters and street tires don't play together well.
when my car trapped 80 in the 1/8 i could totally annihilate the tires through 2nd gear (like literally 100' worth of rubber going wot from an idle). but the car was still slower than **** through a funnel in the middle of january, so the only thing i did was hurt myself if i tried to play on the street.
it always sucked to mention "4k stall" to someone on the street when i BARELY pulled them. stalls get no love on the street. however, i bought it for the track, so with any luck i'll be yanking some tire off the line come sunday afternoon.
So if you have 2.73s I would suggest getting the 3.73s and save some coin. Cause I would imagine that with the install you could get it all done for under $500 where you will not be able to get a stall for that.

no man..you didnt make a mistake..youll be able to race from a dig on the street youll just have to learn how to get it out of the hole ..your not goin to be able to just punch it.. feather it out and youll still be faster than the stock stall...believe me..my 3200 stall was the best mod ive done to my car..and its strictly a DD as well...now put it in and tell us how you like it!
