what converter to get!
what converter to get! Trying to get a good brand that will work great for daily driver and have no problems with lock-up ect. most likely going with a 3000 stall. that seems reasonable for my mods on my lt1
I would go with Yank. Even if some other brand 'promises' a five year warranty why not get it done right the first time?
I put 60,000 miles on my 3500 GTP with no issues. Flawless performance. It stalled at what it was rated as.

i talked to ARD and owen told me (as well as a lot of the transmission rebuild places) that a re-stalled stock sized converter will last longer for a daily driver because of the lock-up clutch. the others are great but arent as good at locking up or wouldnt last as long for highway use ect. plus it is a bit less expensive, not much compared to a few i've researched but i'll talk to some of the companies and see what they have to say, any input on the idea?
Not positive, but pretty sure Yank has a much stronger lock up clutch than stock. I would call some good reputable converter places and talk to them before ordering or restalling the stocker..

I have owned 2 Yank Converters and both performed flawlessly. The lock up was smooth and never had any chattering problems. I went with a discount converter company and had problems with leaking trnamsision fluid due to crappy front covers.

Owen built my tranny and also restalled my stall from 3200 to 3600. Great guy to deal with.
One of the increases in performance you get from a converter is not just the increased stall speed, but the weight you lose from going to a lighter, smaller diameter unit. The stock one is rediculous, it needs to get tossed ASAP.
Yank is the way to go!!!!!!!!

There is no wear on the highway. The clutch surface doesn't wear out a lot.
I have never heard of anyone having any problems with a TCC unless they were locking up under WOT repeatedly.
In no case can a factory restall be better than a new billet converter with specially designed componets.
well im not really sure, i dont know much about them, but i have heard 3-4 separate transmission companies tell me the same thing. and a couple of them didnt even sell re-stalled ones. not sure

i called owen and left him a message, i dont really have the money for the converter right now so i'll have to wait anyway, but after reading yank's and fuddle's websites i think i will be going with one of them. just now sure which one yet, fuddle is a better price, but yank seems to really know their stuff. not saying fuddle doesnt just not sure yet. there are a lot of fuddle votes but no one saying why. is it just the price?
