Yank SS3600 or SS4000

Ok i need help trying to decide on a converter for my 1998 SS. This car is daily driven in the summer months and my goal for the time being is 120mph trap in the 1/4 N/A. The only reason im considering the SS3600 is because the converter will be my first mod besides the catback and lid and the car will only have LT, ory, catback, fast 90, nw 90, and an 85mm lid/maf setup for the first year. After that ill be going with either an F13 or TRAK cam along with milled afr or dart 205's. Is the SS4000 gonna be to much to drive with just a bolt on car for a while?

If you're going with a big cam then 4000 will suit you better. I have a 4200 and 4.10s in my V6 and was daily driving that for a while. The big gears I regret more then the stall because on the highway it is turning alot more RPM then I'd like. But the converter itself locks up and the RPM is just like stock. You'll get really used to the looseness fast.

yeah i would say at least 4000 with a cam, i have the ss3600 with a stock cam bolt on car and it is a perfect fit...might wanna actually look into a 4200-4400

4000 minimum. ill be getting a 4400 soon. they arent that bad at all as long as you get a lock up. my freind has a 3800. it only turns 2200 or so to keep up with normal traffic.and around 50 or so it jumps into what a stock converter turns. by no means will your car turn near 4000 all the time unless wot.. but thats what you need with a cam.

I have a SS4000 with al the bolt-ons. After it locks up at 40 or so, you won't know you have a TC until you punch it. I'm happy with the TC, just not my stock tranny (slipping w/83k).
