I finally ordered a converter. I went with a Yank SS3600 2.5 str

 

Is this your first stall in a LS1? If so just wait tell you get it installed and take it out for your first test drive.

 

Yeah, it's my first stall. I should sound good with a chambered exhaust.

 

break it in properly with 150 miles on less than half throttle, dont just go out and mash the pedal, my dad and i both broke ours in with over 200 miles and he has over 500 passes on his yank 3000 converter and it is just as strong as the day he got it...just FYI

 

LOL.... I never broke my SS3600 in... as soon as it was installed it got put to use to see what she could do! But it probably wouldn't hurt anything to take it easy at first.... Yank makes great converters! I don't know what year car you have, but when I put my converter in it needed to be tuned afterwards.

 

Don't worry I'm breaking it in easy. I already have the tune problem sorted out. A local guy off the board will be doing the tuning (Kp). He's done the tune on 2 of my old LS1 cars and I never had a problem with it.

 

IMO 3600 is the perfect range stall. Good Luck and have fun with it!!

You wont be laughing when, the converter doesn't last because the disks didn't wear in properly...some people need to read the instructions , hope it doesn't break but if it does dont blame it on yank...

 

I don't think it's going to break! I don't beat my car, but after it was installed I had to see what a stall converter was all about. I will be willing to put money on the fact that it won't break, Yank makes them right.

 

Take a look at the Yank website. They give very specific instructions on breaking in their converters, and the reasons why. When you pay that much for a converter, plus installation, it behooves you to do it right. JMHO.
