Default Daily Driver Stall Size?

I know this question has been asked a thousand times, so here goes a thousand and one! I've got a 382 stroker with a mild cam, ported heads, LTs, all bolt-ons (385rwhp and 445rwtq before the LTs), and I'm running 3.42s in the rear. I'm looking for a stall for the 4l60e but I'm just not sure what size to run to keep it streetable. I'm not looking for drastic e.t. drops, but I also don't want to be driving around in L.A. traffic at 4000rpm. Any suggestions on size and brand would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton.

I would say you need at least a 3500, and going a bit bigger then that wouldnt hurt at all.

I was thinking about going with a Fuddle or a Vigilant. I was guessing between 3500 and 3800. I know I'll need a tranny cooler but should I also throw in a shift kit? Oh, a few more questions. What kind of mileage should I expect? It's a daily driver but I don't intend on putting a lot of miles on it, so are there any driveability issues? Sorry for all the ???s, but I'm pretty new to the whole tranny thing. Thanks.

Id say 3500.
You want to pick your converter 500 rpm below your peak torque for best results.
for example: If your engines peak torque is at 4.5k, get a 4k stall.

I agree w/Last Z, 3500 is sufficient( for street and sometimes track use) .The big stall 'verters are fun, but impractical for my(wifes) use. $.02

there is another post circulating on here where some with a stroker went from a 2800 stall to a 3600 and actually saw worse times, would think about getting a smaller stall for the stroker, i dont think they like having bigger stalls like the ls1's do...IMO

All depends on where the torque is on the dyno graph.

I have a Fuddle 3800 and it seems to be fine for a daily driver.

The torque stays well above 400rw lbs-ft from about 4000 all the way to redline. Just out of curiosity why wouldn't a stroker like the big stall? It's still an LS1

You would be better off consulting a professional like yank, or fuddle. Reason being your combo makes a ton of torque compared to hp, why would you want to increase it (too much )to the point of having serious traction problems.Give them a call, they can give you the specific information that your gonna need.Stroker motors make there power a lot lower in the rpm range!!!!

Because it has more low end power it doesn't need as much help getting the engine into the sweet spot. Your kind of wasting the available low end torque because your bypassing it.

Ok, now I'm lost, sorry (new to the tranny stuff). So... does that mean since I have a lot of torque that I should go with a smaller converter?

From what you are wanting, the Vig 3200 should be perfect. It drives almost like a stocker so it won't kill your mileage but will give you a huge performance hit. Do a search on it and you'll be sold. I've had eight different converters in 4th gen LS1 Camaros and the Vig 3200 is by far the best I've found.

I drive my car back and forth to Century City every day, and if you live in LA you might know what that's like. A daily driver in, say, Dallas is NOT the same as a daily driver in LA. I wouldn't go bigger than 3500 for sure. My car is perfect for me.

i just talked to John from Fuddle and it looks like I'll be going with a 3200. He recommended it with my torque curve and possible cam upgrade. And yeah, BeachZ, L.A. trasffic is like no other. Especially trying to drive up the 101!

I think you'll be happy that size stall. My 3400 is right on the edge of driveability in LA. I like it, but it's a little lose. And I never take the 101 unless it's 2:00am.
