TCI 3500 here. Gets lots of looks driving around town. No tune and still drives great. 1/4 mile times in sig. If i had to do it again, I honestly would probably go a little bigger, at least 4000. Best mod for an automatic hands down though.

well I just my fuddle 3400, FLT Stage 3, and a basic tune all done at Speed Inc. with the 2.73 gear its loose. normal aceleration the car revs to 2500-3000rpm but the converter was made for my future (probably a winter project) change to a 3.42 or 3.73 gear so the super loose feel was expected. that aside I still love this setup with the few days of driving I've had.
I don't know how much just the stall or trans or tune helped because I had it all done at once. the car shifts fast as hell and chirps the tires on the 1-2 shift and it tries to rip the tires off the car from a standstill. the stock stall and trans was lucky to squeak the tires on launch on the street and the horrid torque management killed the shift speeds but its a completely different car now!!
thus far gas mileage doesn't seem to have changed at all with the 40 miles a day of 50/50 mix of traffic and highway driving I do every day.

SSF 3500 here, on stock cam n 3.23's. i like the way my car drives now but i also enjoyed it when i had the stock stall. i went with a 3500 because i do plan on upgrading my cam and i felt that there were more cam options that could work with a 3500.
don't have track times however; my mpg currently is approx 22 city/hwy mix.
it took me a day to get used to it and now it feels "normal" to me. i also heard that there isn't much difference between a 3000 n 3500 as far as looseness goes.
two things you WILL NEED, tranny cooler n at least some DR's. tranny cooler for obvious reasons n DR's because you will need to re-learn how to launch your a4. i had yoko's es100's and they wouldn't hook to save my ***. upgraded to BFG's DR's and after small burnouts, they hooked pretty decent on a shitty track.
oh n, once i hit 40-45 mph, 4th kicks in n i can cruise at about 1800-2200 rpm, if that helps any.

fuddle 3600 here and LOVE it. I can keep up with traffic and never go over 2200 rpm.....not loose at all, will still creep forward idling in gear. Shift extension is ~5100rpm with 6400rpm shift points. If you're reading this and you don't have a converter, order one. You won't ever look back. I had wanted to swap to a t56 setup for years, but after I got my converter that thought went promptly out the window.

I paid $400 shipped for my Fuddle 4400 on a group purchase. I think they are about $450 now. You can find used Yanks, Fuddles, etc in the for sale section for around that much or a little cheaper. The B&M cooler was around $100 or so, I can't remember for sure. I was quoted $400, $500, $300, etc etc for the install and fluids. However, a member of our local F-body club is installing the stall, cooler, headers, y-pipe, and intake for $450.
I would budget aside about $1000. You probably won't spend all of it, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Expect to drop around a second from your 1/4 times too

I have a TCI 3500 with a TR224 and I LOVE it, I'm a college student, this is my DD and I drive it about 50 miles a day, 1/2 city 1/2 highway. I didnt notice any difference in MPG when I'm not getting in it, but that is so hard to do. I still avergae about 20 MPG combined a tank. It truely does wake the car up!
I noticed that too, most LT1 guys I know go with a 2800 stall. Weird.

There's no problem with going that big with a stock cam. I had a 3500 TCI and it was very street friendly and I don't know why you would go any smaller than that. 3600-4000 for a daily should be fine.
