Installing stall this weekend, any advice
shaft seal (O-ring) before the stealership parts window
closes. Maybe get two of the O-ring, in case you smeg
one trying to get it on. 8 quarts of ATF minimum, new
filter & pan gasket. Buy yourself a cooler now and put it
on while it's up in the air.
Be prepared to have extremely stubborn stock converter bolts. Mine were so frozen that I couldn't break them loose with my snap-on 1/2" imact gun. Had to heat them with a torch to get them out of there.
When installing the new converter, you're supposed to turn the converter while pushing until it clicks 3 times and seats fully on the pump.....sometimes the clearance on that turbine input shaft can be tight around the seal and make the converter hard to seat on the pump (3rd "click"). Make 100% sure you're lined up with the pump and you'll just have to push hard to get it on. Mine was so tough I had to grab the bellhousing and push the converter on with my foot! If you're not lined up with the pump when you do this you'll kill it, so be careful. If it's your first time doing it, measure how far the stock converter is recessed into the bellhousing before you remove it....that way you know how far your new converter has to go before it's fully seated. Have fun!
