Default Why do thruster pros not run well....

With nitrous? Is it because there are other converters out there better for the jug and recommend that because they know you will spray?I figured the thing should respond well to the jug.To me any car should like a 100 shot. But I am no expert thats why I am asking.

well figure a thruster pro 4400 converter is meant to flash to 4400rpm or around there on a launch. from what i know, that's how it acts with a certain amount of power. NOW...when you add in that initial shock of launching on a 100 shot, and all the torque from the nitrous especially, it will flash that thing up to about 5500rpm, which is a TON for a stock/mild built motor. so it would also cause the converter to slip a lot more too during the run, moving it up and out of your power band. that's about as best of an explanation as i can come up with. that's why you see people only gaining .4 from a 100 shot with this converter.

a 4000 stall would work a bit better. do you run a progressive controller? if you do that would help a bit. if you don't, that sudden rush of the nitrous hit would cause the same spike in converter slippage in my opinion. maybe not as bad as at launch, but still close.

The stall speed of the converter and its performance characteristics are heavily influenced by the torque curve. The YTP was designed to be a max converter for NA use, with torque from the motor of around 350 - 400 ft-lbs (the range put out by a full bolt-on to heads & cam stock cube motor). When you spray on top it you are increasing torque by 25 - 33% and it stretches the converter out of its efficent range. The converter is also generally too big for FI and big cube motors for the same reason.

The short answer.. More power raises the stall speed.

A 4400 in a stock car will stall less than a 4400 in a power adder car... do to the power being applied.

The real answer is most of the advantage on the juice is in the lower rpms. You need a 3500rpm or so stall speed to use that power. The TP4400 under a 150 shot goes to 5500rpm. You skip over all your power.

All the above replies are correct.....

The TP4400 is a max effort N/A converter.

Thats not its forte'. But what it does well, it does VERY well.
